22 | Pushing Away

Asra was still shaking in Ather’s arms, trying to catch her breath. Her body ached all over — especially between her legs — from how roughly he had taken her. The new pink bangles on her wrists jingled softly as she trembled.

Tears kept flowing down her cheeks.

Suddenly, she placed both her small hands on his broad chest and pushed weakly. It barely moved him, but the intention was clear.

“Sir… stop…” she whispered, voice cracking. “You were very rough again… it hurts so much.”

Ather froze, still hovering over her. He looked down at her tear-filled face and red, puffy eyes. Asra pushed at his chest again, harder this time, though her strength was nothing compared to his.

“I said stop… please,” she cried softly. “I can’t… you’re too rough. I hate it when you become like this.”

She turned her face away from him, curling into herself as much as she could. Her small body was trembling, and fresh tears kept falling.

“I was so happy today at the mall… and then you… you became so mean again,” she sobbed quietly. “I don’t like it when you hurt me like this. Push… push away…”

Ather stared at her for a long moment. His jaw clenched tightly. He slowly pulled out of her, making her wince, and sat up on the bed. But he didn’t move far. Instead, he reached out to touch her shoulder.

Asra flinched and pushed his hand away.

“Don’t touch me right now,” she whispered brokenly, still crying. “You are very bad… very very bad.”

She curled up into a small ball, pulling the blanket over her naked body, hiding from him. Her shoulders shook with silent sobs.

Ather sat there watching her, his expression dark and unreadable. The ruthless man who never cared about anyone’s tears was now staring at the only person whose crying actually affected him.

He reached out again, this time more gently, and stroked her hair even though she tried to shrug him off.

“Shh… meri bacchi,” he murmured, voice low. “I was rough. I know.”

Asra didn’t reply. She just kept crying softly under the blanket, pushing his hand away every time he tried to comfort her.

Ather stayed right there beside her, not leaving, not forcing her. For the first time, the powerful Don was forced to sit and watch his little wife cry because of him — and he didn’t know how to fix it.
