20 | Heading Home

After a long and eventful shopping trip, Ather finally decided it was time to leave. The sun was already setting outside the mall, painting the sky in beautiful orange hues.

Asra walked beside him, carrying a few small bags while Ather’s bodyguards handled the rest. Her wrists were full of new bangles that jingled softly with every step. She looked tired but extremely happy — her face glowing with contentment.

“Sir… today was really fun,” she said softly as they walked toward the private parking area. “Thank you for bringing me.”

Ather didn’t reply, but his hand stayed firmly on her lower back, guiding her protectively. He helped her into the backseat of the Maybach, then slid in beside her. The driver started the car smoothly.

As soon as the car moved, Asra leaned her head against Ather’s shoulder, feeling sleepy after all the excitement. Her new bangles made soft music every time she moved.

“Sir… my legs are tired,” she complained cutely, pouting. “And I bought so many things today.”

Ather looked down at her. Without saying anything, he pulled her closer, letting her rest properly against his chest. One of his hands gently played with her open silky hair while the other rested possessively on her thigh.

“You enjoyed yourself,” he stated in a low voice. It wasn’t a question.

Asra nodded, rubbing her cheek against his suit. “Yes… but I still think you are a little bad,” she mumbled sleepily. “You made the staff blush so much in the lingerie shop.”

Ather let out a rare, low chuckle. He tilted her chin up and kissed her forehead, then her cheeks, and finally a soft kiss on her lips.

“Sleep if you want, meri bacchi,” he whispered against her hair. “We’ll be home soon.”

Asra smiled shyly and closed her eyes, feeling safe in his strong arms despite everything. The car ride was quiet except for the soft jingling of her bangles and the steady beating of Ather’s heart.

Ather kept watching her sleeping face the entire way home. His expression was cold as always, but his hold on her was gentle and protective.

By the time they reached the mansion, the sky had turned completely dark. Ather didn’t wake her. He simply carried his small, tired wife inside the house in his arms — shopping bags and all — like she weighed nothing.

As he walked up the stairs toward their bedroom, he looked down at her peaceful face and whispered softly:

“You’re becoming too dangerous for my darkness, little one.”
