16 | Makeup Counter

After buying several traditional outfits, Asra’s eyes lit up when she spotted the big, brightly lit makeup section on the second floor. She tugged gently at Ather’s sleeve, looking up at him with sparkling, hopeful eyes.

“Sir… can I go there please?” she asked softly, almost pleading. “Just for a little while?”

Ather glanced at the colorful makeup counters and then back at her innocent face. He gave a single nod.

“Go. I’ll sit here.”

He settled down on a nearby couch in the waiting area, crossing his long legs, while Asra practically skipped toward the makeup section, her long skirt flowing and jhumkas jingling happily.

Asra stood in front of the luxurious brands, eyes wide with wonder. She picked up different products carefully — testing shades of lipstick on the back of her hand, trying different blushes, and admiring the pretty compacts. She looked like a little girl in a candy store.

The makeup artist at the counter smiled warmly at her. “Would you like a quick makeover, ma’am?”

Asra hesitated and looked back at Ather, who was watching her intently from a distance. She gave him a small questioning look. When he didn’t object, she nodded shyly to the artist.

“Just light makeup please…”

A few minutes later, Asra returned to Ather with a fresh look. Her lips were painted in a soft rosy shade, cheeks had a natural glow with blush, and her eyes looked even bigger with a touch of mascara and subtle shimmer. She looked radiant and even more beautiful.

She stood in front of him, swaying slightly.

“Sir… how do I look now?” she asked in her signature childish tone, biting her lower lip nervously. “Does the lipstick look good? The aunty there said it suits me.”

Ather stared at her for a long moment without speaking. His gaze was dark, intense, and hungry. He slowly stood up, towering over her small frame, and cupped her chin with his fingers, tilting her face up toward him.

He ran his thumb across her freshly painted lower lip, smudging the lipstick just a little.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, meri bacchi,” he murmured, voice low and rough. “Looking this beautiful in public… when I can’t touch you the way I want right now.”

Asra’s cheeks turned bright red under the blush. She lowered her eyes shyly but couldn’t hide her small, happy smile.

“I… I just wanted to look pretty for you, Sir,” she whispered.

Ather leaned down and pressed a slow kiss on her forehead, then dangerously close to her lips — stopping just short of actually kissing her.

“You already look too pretty,” he said darkly. “Now buy whatever you want from here. But remember… every product you take home, I will watch you use it later.”

Asra’s heart raced at his words. She nodded quickly and went back to the counter to pick a few lipsticks, a compact, and some mascara, feeling both excited and nervous under Ather’s constant, burning gaze.
